H1N1 Influenza

The swine flu, or H1N1, emerged in Mexico and the United States in Spring 2009 and soon reached pandemic levels, according to the World Health Organization.

T-cells play a key role in the control of viral infection and in clearing influenza virus from the lungs.  Current influenza vaccines produce a robust antibody response, but a poor T-cell response, if any.

Aging has been associated with reduced antibody activity and diminished protection against influenza viruses causing many older people to be at risk for influenza illnesses despite vaccination.

The pre-clinical studies of our H1N1 vaccine have shown to induce T-cell mediated immunity as well as antibody.  In fact, Etubics H1N1 vaccine creates a higher level of antibody than a leading commercially available H1N1 vaccine.
